Truth and Light Ministries Inc.
Established and incorporated 25 June 1986 through the work of God to "earnestly contend for the faith that was once delivered unto the Saints" (Jude 3b AV).
We are exposing the truth not only as we perceive it but by how we can prove it through the light of God's holy words and through proper grammatical and exegetical methods as found in some of the best Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek grammars and lexicons.
A thought to consider: did the ancient people who wrote the manuscripts which were later copied and placed in our canon of holy writings or Scriptures, did they make exceptions to the rules of grammar and exegetical principals whenever words applied to their God, angels, or spirit beings or were these simply done later by unlearned or unknowledgeable scribes, priests, church men, women, and scholars?

Why This Ministry?

"For certain men have falsely entered among you, and these were foreordained from the very beginning to this condemnation; they are ungodly men, turning the grace of [the] God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God and our Lord Jesus Christ." (Jude vs. 4, Lamsa Translation from the Aramaic New Testament)

Thank God, that through his son, Jesus the Messiah "we have salvation, and in his blood, forgiveness of sins, according to . . . his grace, that that grace which has abounded in us, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding" Ephesians 1:7,8 (Lamsa Version) "Wisdom is only found in truth." -Goethe "The first step of wisdom is to know what is false." -Latin Proverb  Because people are dying "for lack of knowledge" (Hosea 4:6) and Truth has fallen in the street, there is no justice for many (Isaiah 59:14) we therefore must earnestly contend for what was the faith of the saints of old (Jude 3)

The Holy Bible and What are Its
Most Important Doctrines or Teachings?

Psalm 43:3 “O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.” We of Truth and Light Ministries believe the following are the basic, fundamental, and most important teachings of the Holy Bible.

1. The Holy Scriptures of the Holy Bible were originally written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and are the only proper guide for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness (Pr. 29:18; Is. 8:20; Jer. 36:2; Jn. 12:48; Acts 1:16; 1 Cor. 2:13; Gal. 1:8; 1 Tim. 6:3; 2 Tim. 3:16,17; and 2 Pet. 1:21).

2. The supreme God of the Holy Bible, who is called God the Father (1 Cor. 8:6; 2 Pet. 1:17; and 2 Jn 1:3) is a living personal God (Jn. 17:1-3) and “a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and in truth” (Jn. 4:24).

3. The Christ or the Messiah, the Son of God the Father (2 Pet. 1:17 and 2 Jn. 1:3) came in the flesh as the Jesus of Nazareth (Mt. 16:16; 21:11; and 1 Jn. 4:2,3).

4. Jesus Christ or Christ Jesus was the only begotten son of God the Father and was born of a virgin called Mary, who was made pregnant by the Holy Spirit (Mt. 1:18,25; and Jn. 3:16). Note: We believe that the people who believe that Jesus has no FATHER have no problem, because at the right time, Jesus will introduce his FATHER to them.

5. God created all things through Jesus Christ and this Jesus “is the head of the body, the church; for he is a beginning, a first fruits of the resurrection from the dead, that in all things he might be the first” (Col. 1:16,18; and see 1 Cor. 15:20,23).

6. “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Rom. 3:23) but whosoever will continue to believe, trust, and rely on Jesus Christ shall not perish but have everlasting life (Jn. 3:16), for by grace you are saved through faith and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast (Eph. 2:8, 9).

7. “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: and that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: after that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once . . . .” (1 Cor. 15:3-6).

8. Jesus provided for our salvation and there is no salvation by any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12 and Rom. 3:24).

9. The righteous, who have done good works will have a resurrection of life (Jer. 17:10; Mt. 16:27; Jn. 5:29; 6:40; 11:25; Acts 24:15; 1 Cor. 15; 2 Cor. 4:14; 5:10; 1 Thes. 4:13-17; and Rev. 22:12) and the unrighteous, who have done evil works will have a resurrection of condemnation (Jer. 17:10; Mt. 5:20; Jn. 5:29; Acts 24:15; Rom. 2:8, 9; 2 Cor. 5:10; Heb. 10:27; 2 Pet. 2:13,17; and Rev. 22: 12).

10. We must “repent . . . and be converted,” and that our sins may be blotted out (Acts 3:19 and see also Mt. 3:2; Lk. 13:2; and Acts 2:38).

11. Immersion in water baptism is the teaching of the New Testament (Mt. 3:6 and Acts 19:3-5)

12. Christians or preferably Believers (John 2:22; 4:53; 8:30; Acts 24:14,15; and 2 Tim. 1:12) must “continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the Gospel” (Col. 1:23 and see also Joshua 23:7; Mt. 10:22; Mk. 13:13; Jn. 15:9; Acts 11:23; 1 Cor. 15:58; Heb. 3:6; 4:14; 10:23; 12:1,7; Jas.1:12; 5:11; and Rev.3:3, 11).

13. Jesus is coming again to take us to where he is (Jn. 14:3 and 1 Thes. 4:14-17). In the meantime he is our advocate with the Father (1 Jn. 2:1), a great high priest (Heb. 4:14), and the one mediator between God and men (Rom. 8:34 and 1 Tim. 2:5).

14. As Believers we have a Comforter, that of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, who also convicts of sin, regenerates us, baptizes or cleanses us and seals us into the Body of Christ, which is the true Christian Church of born again believers (Jn. 3; 14:16,17; 16:7-11; 1 Cor. 12:12-14; Eph. 1:13,14).

15. It is the duty and privilege of all believers to be filled with the Holy Spirit, who enlightens, guides, and empowers the believer to live a consistent Christian life (Jn. 16:13; Acts 2:4; 4:31; 7:55; 11:24; 13:9; 13:52; Gal. 5:16; Eph. 5:18; 1 Jn. 2:20,27).

16. God the Father, Jesus Christ his Son, and the Holy Spirit are divine and are one, as they work together as a united family or divine team (Gen. 1:1,2; De. 6:4; Ps. 51:11; Isa. 7:14; Mt. 1:23; 28:19; Mk. 12:29,31; Lk. 3:22; Jn. 3:31; 4:24; 5:18,23; 8:23, 42; 10:30; 14:26; 15:26; 17:22; Acts 5:3,4; 1 Co. 8:4 - 6; 2 Co. 13:14; 1 Pet. 1:2; and 1 Jn. 5:7).

17. There is a reality and personality of angels and other spirit beings, both good and fallen, including Lucifer (Isa. 14:12) as Satan, the arch enemy of God and man, but whose end is sure (Job 1:6,7; Psa. 103:20; Mt. 4:11; Lk. 2:13; Heb. 1:14; and Rev. 20:10).

18. There is a necessity to share our faith as seen in the great commission to go and teach all nations, converting them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever Jesus commanded (Mt. 28:19,20; Mk. 16:15, 16; Lk. 9:2-6; 10:1-10; Jn. 4:35-38; Acts 1:8; Eph. 4:5,11, 12; 5:26; 2 Tim. 4:1-5; 1 Pet. 3:21). Note though that it says “name of,” not “sentence phrase of.” If you will check these references of Acts 2:38; 3:6; 4:18; 5:40; 9:27; and 16:18, the apostles or ambassadors of Jesus, understood that he meant his own name, Jesus, for it includes his father’s name of Jeh, as in Jehwah.

19. Whereas “[Jesus] gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ: (Eph. 4:11-13), we therefore must expect to find similar gifted people in the Church today and pray that God will supply to some of us in the Church the necessary gifted people to bring about the purposes mentioned above.

20. Whereas God executed miracles and wonders in the Old and New Testament eras that mankind might know the power of Almighty God (Miracles: Ex. 6:7; 8:10; 16: 12; Jos. 3:10; 1 K. 18:37; Is. 45:3; Jl. 2:27; Zec. 4:9; Mt. 9:6; Jn. 10:38; 14:31; 17:23 and Wonders: Ex. 4:21; 15:11; Jos. 3:5; Ps. 77:14; Da. 4:3; Jl. 2:30; Ac. 6:8), be instructed properly (De. 4:5; Ne. 9:20; Jn. 6:45), aid their faith (Ex. 4:5; 19:9; Is. 41:20; 43:10; Jn. 1:7; 11:15,42; 13:19; 14:29; 17:21; 19:35; 20: 31), and realize that Jesus of Nazareth was the Messiah (Jn. 2:9,11; 4:46, 54; Lu. 5:6; Mk. 1:26; Lu. 4:35; . . . Lu. 24:6) we should therefore also expect similar miracles, wonders, divine instructions, aids to our faith, and proofs that Jesus is the Messiah in our own day and age.

21. Whereas God is no respecter of persons (Eph. 6:9), whether male or female, Jew or Gentile (Ro. 10:12), young or old, poor or rich, (Ac. 10:34,35) and whereas even the un-named Seventy nobodies were used by God to perform miracles, to heal the sick, and to cast out demons in (Lu. 10:1-20) Jesus name and were given “power . . . over all the power of the enemy” (Lu. 10:19), you and I can expect to do and see the same results too, provided we too follow Jesus and fast and pray like they did (Ac. 10:34, 35).

22. The end of the world is near (Mt. 24:14), Jesus is coming soon (Mt. 24:29, 30), and only they who endure or have patience to the end shall be saved (Mt. 24:13 and see Mk. 13:1 ff. and Lu. 21:5 ff.).

23. The righteous followers of Jesus, since the resurrection of Jesus, go immediately or very shortly into the presence of Jesus. Sometimes this may be within seconds to many minutes. According to the experience of Henry Gruver of Joyful Sound Ministries, who was dead for about twenty minutes, and others who died, went to heaven, and then returned from the dead or from trances or visions they all got to see heavenly things or even Jesus within minutes. Bible references: 2 Corinthians 5:8; Philippians 1:23; 2 Corinthians 5: 8; Luke 9:30,33; 16:22-26; Revelation 6:9-11 The phrase “on the Earth” is similar in meaning to “under the sun” which was used twenty-nine (29) times in Ecclesiastes. See Ecclesiastes 9:5,6; 12:7; Revelation 19:10; and 22: 8,9. On checking the references and many good old commentaries, one must conclude that it is simply referring to our fleshly earthly being and not the spirit soul that goes to meet its maker in the unseen world (Sheol). Some very good Bible commentaries are Adam Clark’s, Albert Barnes, 1599 Geneva Bible Notes, Family Bible Notes, Jamieson-Fausset-Brown, John Wesley’s Notes, Matthew Henry’s, and The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge.

24. The meek shall inherit the Earth and not the strong wicked ones. In other words there is no secret rapture to get the Believers or saints out of this wicked world and leave it for the wicked. Christ Jesus’ parable about the Tares and of the Bad Fish reveal this. Matthew 13:24-52. Isaiah also revealed this regarding the day of Jehweh (day of LORD) in Isaiah 13:9.

25. The so-called “Coming Millennium Reign of Christ Jesus” has already occurred. Jesus has been reigning in the lives of his saints for nearly two thousand years. The main passage that is used to teach this error (Revelation 20:1-15) is about only one devilish being, the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan that gets to be removed from the Earth and placed in a bottomless pit. In other words, all his billions of evil spirits are still left to roam the Earth and tempt mankind to sin. They just lose their leader for awhile, like for 1,000 years. During this time, God allows the saints who get martyred for Jesus to reign with him. In other words, it is a reign of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus. (Revelation 20:4). If their heads have been cut off, how can they be living on Earth with Jesus reigning. Again, it is not about Jesus reigning but about the beheaded ones reigning with Jesus (verse 4). A puzzling passage in this chapter is the first part of verse five, which is not found in the Aramaic version of the Bible. It is But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This could have been added by a copier or by a translator of the text into the Greek. It should also be obvious, that we are in the period of verse eight (8) And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

26. We should be praying in Jesus’ name and not just closing off our prayer with an “Amen,” as if we are so holy and important, that we can get to talk to God the Father without having to go through his son Christ Jesus of Nazareth (Mark 16: 17; John 14:13,14; 15:16; 16:24, 26).

27. The importance of teachings in the Bible are indicated by the number of times the teaching is mentioned.

28. The truth of anything should be determined by the principles taught in the many reference about two or three witnesses (Mt 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established. 2Co 13:1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established. 1Ti 5:19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. {before: or, under} Heb 10:28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:(KJV). In other words, if there is just one Scripture to support a doctrine, it should not be regarded as a doctrine, in case there is a misunderstanding.

29. The Bible teachings of the Old and New Testaments for the regular day of worship is clearly Saturday, the seventh day. The Bible day starts at dusk, about a half-hour after Sunset (Genesis 1:5,8, 13, 19, 23, 31) and not midnight as determined regularly today. The practice of Sunday worship is mainly through the Roman Catholic Church. The Catholic Mirror, official publication of James Cardinal Gibbons, Sept. 23, 1893: “The Catholic Church,...by virtue of her divine [or is it rather its devilish] mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday.”

   Sunday therefore is the Roman Catholic Sabbath and almost all her off-spring in Protestantism, erroneously follow her philosophy than God’s plain teachings in the Holy Bible. See Genesis 2:3; Exodus 16:26; 20:8-11; 31:17; 34:21; Nehemiah 13:17, 18; Psalm 89:27-34; 111:7, 8; Isaiah 56:2,6; 58:13; 66: 22, 23; Jeremiah 17:20-27; Daniel 7:8,21,25; Zecharia 14:2; Matthew 5:17, 18; 12:1-13; 19:17; 24:20; 27:66-28:1-6; Mark 2:27,28; 16:1, 2; Luke 4:16; 23:56; 24:1; John 20:1; Acts 13: 27, 42, 44; 15:21; 16:13; 17:2, 3; 18:4, 11; Hebrews 4:3,4,8, 9; Revelation 22: 14 (See the chapter: Who Changed the Sabbath?).

30. God’s true name is declared to be very important and a blessing to those who love it and cherish it and a curse to them who despise it. It has been hidden from view in most Bibles though. We should therefore declare God’s name as to what it is most likely and then use it in sacred or respectful ways. Wherever it is found in the original texts, it should be pronounced as it was originally. It should also be spelled in such a way as to help indicate its proper pronunciation. God has revealed that in English, the tetragrammaton of JHWH should be written as Jehwah. The initial Je though, should be pronounced as the Je in Jesus. The reason for this is that the name of Jesus means Jehwah is salvation. The letters Je and Jeh are abbreviations for Jehwah. This is seen in the names of Jehoash, Jehoram, Jehu, Jehoahaz, and other similar ones (See the chapters: The Man of Galilee: his Name and Pronunciation and The Name of God the Father for more details.). Here are some references on God’s holy name: Exodus 9:16; Isaiah 42:8; 43:7; 48:11; 52:5,6; 65:1; Jeremiah 16: 21; 44: 21; Ezekiel 20:9, 14, 22, 41; Zechariah 13:9; Malachi 1:6,11; 2:2; and 4:2.

Some More Reasons for our Ministry:

1. Many are lost and God wants to save people

Isaiah 59:1  Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2. Problem: God will not hear many of you

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3. Almost everyone is believing lies

Isaiah 59:9  Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness..14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.  15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment. (Authorized Version (AV))  "[14] . . . Because truth was destroyed in their ways and they could not walk in straight paths;
4. Philosophy instead of knowledge

Isaiah 59:15 and truth was removed and they substituted opinion in place of knowledge . . . ." (Septuagint Version by Charles Thomson (ed. C. A. Muses))  Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. (AV)

Solutions:

1. Pray for God's light and truth

Note that God says here that truth was removed and his people lacked knowledge, so we pray with the Psalmist  43:3 "O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles."
2. Pray for Wisdom

(AV)  We have also prayed for God's wisdom. James 1:5  If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.

3. Pray with Fasting

At times there are probably many spirits of foolishness, laziness, and unrighteousness that are causing troubles in our Church world. These may only leave though after much prayer and fasting, like many sicknesses and demonic oppressions. We have prayed, fasting many times, one of us, even to the point of a forty day fast that we may be a blessing to you and the Kingdom of God.  Mark 9:29 "He said to them, "This kind can come out by nothing, except by prayer and fasting."
We have been Blessed

We pray and thank God that he has given us much light, truth, and wisdom through his precious Holy Bible in different versions, through other ancient writings and present day Bible helps. He has also given us his only begotten son, Jesus the Messiah and his Comforter, the Holy Spirit. At times, some problems that we were studying were impossible to figure out, so God gave us and others special revelations in order to help the Church understand the Bible better.
Praise God for his mercy and grace.

Our Request

We pray that you will check out our site for the truth. If you believe we have erred in any way and we may have, please inform us as to our errors. Provide the necessary Scripture and any other writings or references necessary to help us understand where we may have gone wrong. We pray too that God will bless you through our ministry and that you will refer this site to others that they too may get light, truth, knowledge, and wisdom from on high, which we have prayed for and have sought earnestly. We of course are not the only ones who get fantastic help and insight from God. You can too, if you will meet the conditions that God requires for such help and revelations, such as a humble spirit and much fasting and prayer. Go ahead and do whatever is necessary to help us and the rest of the Church in whatever is lacking, that we may be a united holy body for Jesus (see Eph. 4:12-14).

The Elohim of Joshua 22:1-34

A moment before reading the Bible this past August or September of 2005, prayer was made for help to find a passage of Scripture that would be quite obvious that the real translation of Elohim should really be just simply superiors or Superiors or superior one or Superior Ones. After the prayer, this scribe just happened to start reading and studying  the above mentioned passage from the Concordant Version. It is quite literal and more consistent at using the same word to represent any given word in the ancient Scriptures. With regards to God, it uses Yahweh, El, Eloah, or Elohim, which are closer to the spellings of the actual Hebrew and Aramaic Scriptures than most versions.
According to the study done by Don C. Hewey at his web site of http://www.1john57.com/literalerror.htm, there is a number of contradictions or inconsistencies in their translations and in understanding about God and his word. It can still be of great value though, as it helped this author get a proper understanding on the daily resurrection of the saints as they happen to die and on some other parts of doctrine.
Note though that Jehwah is the best transliteration of God the Father’s name. This was revealed by divine revelation recently.
Here are the passages which include the words for God plus passages which give a good clue as to their proper meanings:

1) . . . Moses the servant of [Jehwah/Be-er] enjoined on you . . . . 3) . . . the instruction of [Jehwah of your superior ones (the patriarchs, priests, and the chiefs of the tribes)]. 4) Now [Jehwah of your superiors] has given rest to your brothers, just as He promised them. . . . Moses the servant of [Jehwah] . . . . 5) . . . Moses the servant of [Jehwah] enjoined on you: to love [Jehwah of your superiors] and to walk in all His ways, to observe His instructions, to cling to Him and to serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.
9) So the sons of Reuben, the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh turned about and departed from the other sons of Israel, from Shiloh in the land of Canaan, to go to the land of Gilead, to the land of their holding which they held at the bidding of [Jehwah] by means of Moses.
10) When they came to Geliloth of the Jordan in the land of Canaan, the sons of Reuben, the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh built an altar there by the Jordan, an altar towering in appearance. 11) Then the other sons of Israel heard the report: Behold, the sons of Reuben, the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar at the forefront of the land of Canaan at Geliloth of the Jordan, on the side of the sons of Israel. 12) When the sons of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the sons of Israel assembled at Shiloh to march up against them with the militia host.
13) But first the sons of Israel sent Phinehas son of Eleazar the priest to the sons of Reuben, to the sons of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh in the land of Gilead; 14) and with him were ten princes, one prince from each patriarchal house of all the stocks of Israel; each of them was the head of their fathers’ house among the thousands of Israel. 15) When they came to the sons of Reuben, to the sons of Gad, and to the half tribe of Manasseh in the land of Gilead, they spoke to them saying:
16) Thus said the whole congregation of [Jehwah]: What is this offense with which you have offended the [superiors] of Israel [their patriarchs and the chiefs of their family units or tribes], by turning back today from following [Jehwah], in that you have built for yourselves an altar and you revolt today against [Jehwah]! 17) Was the depravity of Peor too little for us, from which we have not cleansed ourselves until this day, even though a stroke came on the congregation of [Jehwah]? 18) And are you today turning back from following [Jehwah]? It will be so that you are revolting today against [Jehwah]; then tomorrow He shall be wrathful against the whole congregation of Israel. 19) If however the land of your holding be unclean, pass over for yourselves to the land of [Jehwah’s] holding, where the Tabernacle of [Jehwah] tabernacles, and have holding among us. But do not revolt against [Jehwah], and do not revolt against us in that you build an altar for yourselves apart from the altar of [Jehwah of] our [superiors]. 20) Did not Achar son of Zerah offend with an offense regarding the doomed goods, so that wrath came upon the whole congregation of Israel? And he was not the only one who deceased for his depravity.
21) Then the sons of Reuben, the sons of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh responded and spoke to the heads of the thousands of Israel: 22) Superior one [(Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the high priest)], superior ones [(the chiefs of the tribes of Israel)], Jehwah, Superior one [your honour], superior ones [gentlemen], [Jehwah], He knows, and let Israel itself know: If we acted in revolt or in offense against [Jehwah], do not save us this day! 24) Yet assuredly we did this from anxiety for this reason, saying, Tomorrow your sons might speak to our sons, saying, What have you to do with [Jehwah of the superiors] of Israel?
29) Far be it from us that we should revolt against [Jehwah] to turn back today from following [Jehwah] to build an altar for ascent offerings, for approach presents and for sacrifices aside from the altar of [Jehwah of our superiors] that is before His Tabernacle.
33) and the word was good in the eyes of the sons of Israel. The sons of Israel blessed  [the superiors] and spoke no longer of marching up against them with the militia host to ruin the land in which the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad were dwelling. 34 Then the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad called the altar as follows: It is the testimony between us that [Jehwah] is the One, [Superior].
(Quoted from the Concordant Version but without all their detailed grammatical and other special signs in their translation, which see at http://www.concordant.org/.)

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my thoughts and see if there be any wicked way in me.” (Psalm 139:23-24)

The following are some of the features and manifestations of the self-life. The Spirit alone can interpret and apply this to your individual case. As you read, examine yourself as if in the immediate presence of God.
Are you ever conscious of:
A secret spirit of pride – an exalted feeling, in view of your success or position; because of your good training and appearance; because of your natural gifts and abilities. An important independent spirit. Stiffness and preciseness?
Love of human praise; a secret fondness to be noticed; love of supremacy, drawing attention to self in conversation; a swelling out of self when you have had a free time in speaking or praying?
The stirrings of anger or impatience, which, worst of all, you call nervousness or holy indignation; a touchy, sensitive spirit; a disposition to resent and retaliate when disapproved of or contradicted; a desire to throw sharp, heated flings at another?
Self-will; a stubborn, unteachable spirit; an arguing, talkative spirit; harsh, sarcastic expressions; an unyielding, headstrong disposition; a driving, commanding spirit; a disposition to critici[z]e and pick flaws when set aside and unnoticed; a peevish, fretful spirit; a disposition that loves to be coaxed and humored?
Carnal fear; a man-fearing spirit; a shrinking from reproach and duty; reasoning around your cross; a shrinking from doing your whole duty by those of wealth or position; a fearfulness that someone will offend and drive some prominent person away; a compromising spirit?
A jealous disposition, a secret spirit of envy shut up in your heart; an unpleasant sensation in view of the great prosperity and success of another; a disposition to speak of the faults and failings, rather than the gifts and virtues, of those more talented and appreciated than yourself?
A dishonest, deceitful disposition; the evading and covering of the truth; the covering up of your real faults; the leaving of  a better impression of yourself than is strictly true; false humility; exaggeration; straining the truth?
Unbelief; a spirit of discouragement in times of pressure and opposition; lack of quietness and confidence in God; lack of faith and trust in God; a disposition to worry and complain in the midst of pain, poverty, or at the dispensations of Divine Providence; an over-anxious feeling whether everything will come out all right?
Formality and deadness; lack of concern for lost souls; dryness and indifference; lack of power with God?
Selfishness; love of ease; love of money?
These are some of the traits which generally indicate a carnal heart. By prayer, hold your heart open to the searchlight of God, until you see the groundwork thereof. The Holy Ghost will enable you, by confession and faith, to bring your “self-life” to the death. Do not patch over, but go to the bottom. It will pay.

Oh, to be saved from myself, dear Lord,
Oh, to be lost in Thee:
Oh, that it might be no more I,
But Christ that lives in me.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me” (Psalm 51:10).

[Then someone else added the following:]

Here is how you may deliver yourself - Fast and Pray[, repent of all your sins and forgive everyone and everything that may have wronged you,] commanding the devil to get out of your body [in Jesus’ name and by the Blood of the Lamb] in a loud voice, every 30 minutes till you are free, and get filled with the Holy Spirit, so the[ filthy spirits] cannot come back. [Then do your best with God’s help, to obey God’s Holy Spirit, to read God’s Holy Bible which is a mirror to the soul, to worship with other believers, and to pray without ceasing, practising the presence of God.]
